Lukáš Karbus (b. Česká Lípa, 1981)

1997-2000 studied at the Secondary School of Glass Arts and Crafts in Novy Bór; 2001-2007 studied in Painting Studio 2 in the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Technical University of Brno (FaVU VUT) headed by Prof. Martin Mainer; scholarships awarded by the Zagreb Academy of Arts, the University of Leeds, and the Leerdam Glass School; 2003 practical training at Studio intermedia (teacher: Václav Stratil). Prizes and awards: 2008 J. M. Z. Hlávkovy Talent Award; 2010 Critics' Prize for Recent Painting (2nd place); 2015 finalist for the Jindřich Chalupecký Prize. Ambitious representative of modern Czech painting, producing mostly colourful, surrealistic landscapes with a constructivist touch.
