Luboš Plný (b. Česká Lípa, 1961)

One of the most important and remarkable autodidacts, who is often seen as a Czech representative of art brut; he has been making drawings since childhood and has always had a special interest in anatomy. Undertook vocational training at the Railway Technical School in Nymburg then worked for the railway company; after unsuccessful applications to the Academy of Fine Arts Prague (AVU), he began working there as a model while continuing his artistic training privately; in 2000, after 6 years, he was officially awarded the personal title of "Academic Model" by the AVU; more than a dozen solo and over 40 group exhibitions; in 2017, Plný was the only Czech artist invited to the Venice Biennale. Plný's works as a draughtsman and conceptual artist reflect the human body and anatomy in its rawest and most direct form and often revolve around the male body (his own), its functions and limitations.
