Krištof Kintera (b. Prague, 1973)

1992-1999 studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Prague (AVU); 2003-2004 studied at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam; since the mid-1990s numerous solo exhibitions worldwide, e.g. at the Galleria Nazionale in Rome, the National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo, the Museum Tinguely in Basel, and the Haus der Kunst in Munich, as well as in London, New York, Sydney, Prague and Berlin. One of the most impressive Czech contemporary artists; internationally known for spectacular art interventions, mechanical sculptures, complex assemblages and installations, made from, among other things, recycled materials, refuse, and electronic waste, such as his 6-metre high Out of Power Tower (2018/19) made of steel, wood, and old batteries, his Postnaturalia installations, and his impressive light sculptures; critical interrogation of current problems in our over-technologised, hyper-capitalised world and its resulting environmental destruction and ecological breakdown, with ironic undertones.
