Jakub Nepraš (b. Prague, 1981)

1996-2000 attended Václav Hollar Secondary School of Art; 2000-2006 studied at the Academy of Fine Arts (AVU) in Prague; since 2006 member of the Trafačka collective (formerly Trafo Gallery) in Prague Holešovice; 2007: Euromobil Prize at Arte Fiera in Bologna, 3rd Prize at the International Biennale, Florence, and Essl Art Award CEE for young artists (Czech Republic); since 2000 more than 30 solo exhibitions and installations in Arnhem, Prague, Brussels, Duisburg, Lisbon, Lugano, Monte Video, Munich, Paris, Stuttgart and Zurich, among others; has participated in numerous group exhibitions, for example in Amsterdam, Avesta, Cologne, London, Ljubljana, Moscow, Nevada, Shanghai and Strasbourg. One of the most exciting younger artists in the Czech Republic; combines natural materials with state-of-the-art computer and laser technology to create fascinating, bizarrely complex (light) sculptures; philosophical reflections on the development of society, the individual, and nature; his annual Tree House Festival is legendary.
