State Rooms and Retiring Rooms

The tour takes you through the elaborately reconstructed parade rooms and the retirades, where you can admire the breathtaking state robes of Augustus the Strong, which are unique in their state of preservation. The State Apartments, which were furnished in 1719, were the most important suite of rooms in the Dresden Residential Palace. Intended for ceremonial occasions of the highest importance, the furnishings, furnished with top-quality pieces from French and Saxon manufacturers, reflected Augustus the Strong's claim to power. His state vestments were in no way inferior - they are impressive not only because of the uniqueness of their traditional setting, but also because of the extraordinary beauty and preciousness of the textiles used.
