This wooden stool (apükap) consists of a slightly concave board as a seat and two smaller supporting boards with rail-like extensions. The ends of the seat are carved into the shape of a bird, most likely a Tujuju stork. A black Mereschu fish pattern was painted on a white background on the sides. Dignitaries used to offer such stools to visiting guests.
Ethnologist and author Erich Wustmann (1907–1994) acquired this piece during an expedition for the Leipzig museum in 1958.
