The Kunstgewerbemuseum has been staging exhibitions in the rooms known as the “Kaiserzimmer”, Emperor`s rooms, since 1971. Many of the top-quality arts and crafts and design pieces exhibited in the following rooms come from the Kunstgewerbemuseum´s collection. However, only in a few cases do the exhibits have a direct historical connection to the historic rooms. In order to make this apparent while walking through the exhibition, the various exhibits are clearly set apart from one another: while the original interior is placed on the floor, the museum pieces from the collection are made to literally stand out by being displayed on pedestals or in showcases.
