A defining feature of the former bedroom is the very finely executed wall panelling, which extends from the doors over the entire window side. Fortunately, they have been largely preserved in their original state. Delicate white and pointed golden carvings create an antique-like décor against the blue background. The paintings above the doors and mirrors depict mythological subjects. Their scenes clearly show the adoption of antique models that had become known through excavations in Pompeii. The magnificent stove, which was heated by the servants from a narrow corridor behind it, is also original.
In the course of the restoration, it was possible to use a covering made of silk satin, which is similar to the original. A characteristic feature of this fabric is its special weave, in which there are significantly more weft threads on the surface. This ensures a wonderful sheen and an incomparable interplay of light. In this room the straw-coloured satin provides an exciting complimentary contrast to the blue wall panelling.
