The small teapot was part of the service called "Campanian Déjeuner", produced in the Royal Porcelain Manufactory in Berlin. A déjeuner is a small service that was used for breakfast. The name Campanian indicates the source of inspiration - the south-western Italian region of Campania. In ancient times, important settlements were located there, such as the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum, whose excavations in the 18th century had an enormous impact. The very flat shape of the pot, as well as the highly exaggerated handle, seems to be strongly inspired by models of antique hand lamps.

The body of the pot is adorned by a surrounding band in the shape of a stylised conifer branch. The style appears surprisingly modern. Other elements are decorated with a gold painted motif band - a so-called “running dog” motif.

The Campanian Déjeuner was reissued several times, in revised forms, at the end of the 19th century and in the 20th century. It shows that neo-classicist forms were repeatedly taken up again as a design feature. A topic that will be dealt with in more detail in the next room.
