Josef Čapek

Josef Čapek's artistic imagination processed memories of his childhood. His means of expression – thick lines and flat planes of colour, paying no attention to issues of perspective – had a poster-like quality. Today, his works can be regarded as a historical parallel to the contemporary generation of street artists, to which Julius Reichel belongs. He admires Čapek's "early things, which are graphic and illustrative. They are also reminiscent of colouring books." Likewise, Lukas Karbus marvels at the "constantly revitalised genius" of Josef Čapek.
