Kinderstuhl "Short Rest"

Stiletto Studios (1959-) | Design
Brüder Siegel GmbH & Co KG (19xx-) | Artist/Maker

The Short Rest chair shown here was made as a multiple from a standard children’s shopping cart. In 1989, coinciding with the fall of the Berlin Wall, Stiletto (born 1959) modified the shopping cart by hand at the production facilities of Siegel moderne SB-Geräte in Leipheim, Bavaria. The design not only symbolizes consumerism, but also nods to the furniture pieces designed in the 1950s by Harry Bertoia and Ray and Charles Eames, who utilized industrial metal grid structures in their seating designs. The Wire Chair and the Diamond Chair are now iconic. The Short Rest is also available in a red powder-coated version with castors (model 2).
