This altarpiece was created for the Fraternity of San Pietro Martire in Modena. The main saint, to the right of the throne, is speaking to Mary. In front of him is St George. Some putti are playing with the weapons he used to kill the dragon. On the left, John the Baptist points to the infant Christ, to whom Bishop Geminianus is showing a model of Modena. All figures are engaged in lively interaction. Their emotionality and the affectation of their poses testify to the new age of Mannerism.
