Augustus the Strong established Dresden's cultural prosperity through his building activities and passion for collecting. Heermann's bust is considered one of the most reliable depictions of the strong-willed and vital ruler. The full lips, large nose and bushy eyebrows are remarkably realistically rendered, while the energetic turn of the head, the magnificent wig and the pompous cloak with the breast star of the Polish Order of the White Eagle lend him regal dignity.
