Once again, the bald-headed Silenus has consumed excessive amounts of his favourite drink, undiluted wine. With his head hanging forward like a lead weight, Silenus would have fallen down had he not just managed to reach a rock that provides him with support and also gives him an opportunity to put down the wineskin that still contains several litres. “An exemplary depiction of a habitual drinker” (Paul Herrmann, 1915).
