This girl, dressed in a light tunic, has a carefully arranged hairstyle made of various types of plaits or braids, very similar to the hairstyles found on portraits of Lucilla (died 182 CE), the wife of Emperor Lucius Verus. The occasion for the costly production of this statue would have been the early death of the girl, who must have belonged to a wealthy family.
