These three tall, slim vases were made in China between 1710 and 1715. The detailed overglaze scenes in delicate brushwork offer us an insight into a well-to-do family’s private sphere, normally concealed from outsiders. The figures’ activities and their elegant clothes clearly locate them in the world of wealthy and well-educated state officials during the era of the Kangxi Emperor. Our Porcelain Collection is extremely fortunate to boast no less than three of these exceptional and extremely rare pieces.
